Introducing the NTPE Observation Module

Using ETEP to evaluate Non-teaching Professional Educators

NTPE Overview

A comprehensive look at the NTPE Observation module and a demonstration of how it will support the evaluation process for non-teaching professionals, principals, and administrators.

Preparing to use the NTPE Module

We have provided several resources below to get your district started with NTPE Observations.

NTPE User Registration

NTPEs that have not registered and created an account should self-register using the Register link on their PA-ETEP portal. The registration process in PA-ETEP version 3 has been changed to be more user-friendly and secure for our users. Users are now required to validate their email address. Watch the video to the right for an overview of the registration process:
If a NTPE has an account in PA-ETEP, either through a previous registration or created manually, the District Administrator will need to manually update the user’s roles in order to give the NTPE user the proper access to their observation tools.

For specific information about managing roles for NTPEs and other users, visit this documentation on Managing User Roles Manually with PA-ETEP

*Important:  Assigning multiple roles to users can create undesired system side effects.  For the proper management of users, we encourage administrators to read this documentation: Managing User Roles Manually with PA-ETEP

NTPE Supervisor roles

Only non-supervisor NTPEs may use the public registration system to create their account.  Because of special building assignments and privileges, District Administrators will be required to manually create NTPE accounts for any of the following NTPEs:

  • Supervisor of Curriculum and Instruction
  • Supervisor of Special Education
  • Supervisor of Vocational Education
  • Supervisor of Pupil Services
  • Building Principal
  • NTPE Other Supervisor – Help documentation

When these users do not have a designated building, we suggest creating a building called “Central Administration” to house the observations and records for these user types.

Principals & Central Administrators

The NTPE module also allows Principals to complete a NTPE Observation!

Access your NTPE using the My Observations link in the upper right-hand corner of the PA-ETEP screen, next to your user name:

Central Administrators

District Administrators can supervise teachers and NTPE professionals to include principals.  Ensure the administrator has the SchoolDistrict_Admin role in the system. No other role should be added.  See: Managing User Roles Manually with PA-ETEP for more about role management.
